Job Description
Ford Model E Platform Architecture Engineering is looking for a Staff embedded software engineer to work on Audio DSP platform software. In this role you will be responsible for the development of automotive software solutions and embedded software modules for electric vehicles developed by Ford in the area of platform software of audio hardware and audio DSP.
You will be expected to pivot quickly on new ideas. Failing fast will be normal.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Lead the successful development of next generation software components for electric vehicles working with architects engineers and other technical specialists to design an integrated solution.
- Audio platform software development engineer will analyze requirements related to the Audio Infotainment product to design & develop highquality innovative solution for the audio platform software of the product.
- The Job involves designing developing and testing Audio software components working with multicore highend SoC that runs multiple virtual domains on a Type1 hypervisor with more than one domain sharing the Audio resources.
- The job involves developing Audio software components for several usecases associated with Audio Management Audio Routing and Tuning in multidomain systems that includes Linux and Android.
- The Job involves development of some common Audio device drivers for components like Audio Amplifiers and Audio Codecs.
- The Job involves development of Android(AOSP) HALs associated with Audio like AudioHAL AudioControl HAL as well as any related Native framework adaptations.
- The Engineer should be proficient in common Audio frameworks like ALSA Tinyalsa.
- The job involves devising innovative methods and tools that could be used for Acoustic performance measurements of tasks associated with Certification of Carplay/AndroidAuto and tuning for several Audio Post Processing algorithms including ECNR.
- Design and Develop software components that drivers several Audio devices like Amplifier Microphone Codecs DSPs.
- Design and Develop application interfaces that controls Audio Post processing algorithms like Bass/Treble/Mid Boost Loudness control Limiters Echo and Noise cancellation algorithms running in DSP.
- Design solutions catering to challenging Early Audio requirements for Chimes digital HORN features.
- Configure and test Audio Hardware peripherals through I2S TDM etc.
Qualifications
Youll have...
- B.S. in Electrical Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- 10 years proven working experience in embedded software development.
- Experience in handson development and troubleshooting of embedded audio systems and audio platform software (firmware driver)
- In depth knowledge of Open source sound framework like ALSA & Plugins tinyalsa.
- In depth knowledge of Android Audio HAL Vehicle HAL. Understanding of Android Native Audio framework adaptations and the Audio Policy Configurations.
- Experience working with Audio Amplifiers and its diagnostics.
- Programming experience in C C and Python.
- Strong documentation writing and communications skills.
- Must be willing to learn and dive into unknow areas.

- Experience on DSP framework tools (i.e. AudioWeaver)
- Experience on and Linux/Android Audio System and Linux/Android platform software development for it.
- Experienced in Specify Design and Develop Audio Tuning protocol for all audio algorithms in a production friendly manner.
- Experience in paravirtualized architecture environment.
- Analyse and estimate CPU and memory resources for the Audio Streaming problems solutions being designed and optimize the solution based budgeted resources.
