This position is being filled as a limited term assignment. Limited term assignments may have the potential to become permanent but there is no guarantee.

This position works for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and is detailed within the Governors policy division as a Climate and Environment Policy Advisor. The incumbent manages issues in these areas especially how they intersect with energy natural resources and agriculture. This position would serve as a policy advisor and project manager on existing and new initiatives in this issue space.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelors degree in any major.

Experience
State Assistant Administrator 15
Four years of professional experience including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11 level or one year equivalent to the advanced 12 level.

Preferred:
Working in state government particularly in departmental leadership or a Governors office.
Understanding of state legislative and administrative processes.
Developing policy solutions and making recommendations to highlevel principles.
Communicating and rafting briefing memoranda on complex policy issues.
Project managing including setting communicating and meeting goals and deadlines.
Fostering coordination and collaboration among colleagues and with external stakeholders.
Navigating fastpaced working environments while managing a heavy workload with competing priorities.
Working with or understanding the stakeholder community on the advisors relevant issue set.
Working professionally on the advisors relevant issue set particularly in a policy or programmatic role preferably on the ground in Michigan.

Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is Lansing MI and will work a hybrid schedule. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.


Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense including:
o A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
o A highspeed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
o Suitable lighting furniture and utilities.

As a Condition of Employment:this position requires successful completion of a background investigation and a criminal records check.
