JOB TITLE: Junior Consultant SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation

DUTY STATION (City Country): Rome Italy
DURATION: 11 months
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) has stepped up its approach to broker South South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) to support national governments in achieving progress on food security and nutrition. SSTC is increasingly important for WFP and its host governments to access and mobilize the growing expertise technologies and financial resources that already exist in developing countries and the global South. The WFP Multilateral & Programme Country Partnerships Division (MPC) coordinates the implementation of WFPs SSTC Policy and serves as a helpdesk for WFP COs and RBx on SSTC. MPC assures normative guidance and provides technical support/coaching on SSTC to WFP Regional Bureaux and Country Offices while also engaging WFPs Centres of Excellence in order to help them identify and realize SSTC opportunities as part of WFPs programme of work. The division also coordinates WFPs SSTC engagement with other UNpartners and government partners and positions WFP on key SSTC issues relating to food security and nutrition in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The incumbent will support (i) data analysis; and (ii) communications and knowledge management.
The position will be based at WFP Headquarters in Rome Italy and will be for a period of eleven months starting as soon as possible.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
to the operationalization and maintenance of a new knowledge sharing website for WFP Country Offices and the external audience on SouthSouth cooperation.
analysis and systematization of information from WFP Country Offices and Regional Bureaux in order to feed the platform.
of case studies on WFPfacilitated SouthSouth and triangular cooperation initiatives.
of communication materials on all SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation (e.g.: case studies factsheets newsletters publications reports short briefs etc) to increase visibility of SouthSouth and triangular cooperation brokered by WFP.
to the development and rollout of a targeted WFP SSTC engagement and knowledge management and communication strategies.
support to the preparation of knowledge sharing events in order to showcase successful experiences of developing countries for achieving zero hunger.
to the rollout of the programme and partnership work of WFPs SSTC.
duties as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Data analysed and prepared for the visibility and maintenance of WFPs SSTC knowledge sharing website consolidation of collection of SSTC case studies SouthSouth quarterly newsletters and similar communication products programme and partnership work supported in the rollout.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: University degree in International Relations Economies Communications IT or other fields relevant to the job profile or first university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience: Some experience in an international work context.
Knowledge & Skills: Familiarity with WFP operations and understanding of WFPs approach to South South and Triangular Cooperation is an asset.
Experience in the field of knowledge management and communications is an asset.
Specific experience in graphic and web design and management of knowledge platforms is desired.
Demonstrated strong writing and communication skills.
Proficiency in Ms Office (Word Excel Power Point) and Adobe (Photoshop Illustrator Indesign).
Proficiency in web design programmes is an asset.
Good teamwork skills.
Languages:
Fluency in English language and knowledge of a second official UN language.
