Job Description Summary
The Material Driver is responsible for safe travel to and from the job sites. Loading and unloading materials on a 16foot flatbed understanding weight distribution. A Material Driver is also responsible for gathering onsite materials sorting stacking band lumber loads and strapping down loads. Making sure the load they are hauling arrives safely to the job site. Responsible for driving defensively and safely at all times. This position reports to the Equipment and Material Dispatcher and to the Foreman on each job site. The Material Driver must obey all laws.
This is a Safety Sensitive position.
A CDL is NOT required for this position.
Job sites in Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Requirements:
Skills Knowledge and Abilities
Possess the ability to follow instructions as directed by a dispatcher/foreman/superintendent.
Possess the ability to drive the truck safely to and from job sites as well as on the job sites.
Familiarity with lumber sizes and dimensions is highly valued.
Be proficient in reading and using a measuring tape.
A CDL is NOT required for this position.

- OSHA 10 or 30 hour Certified
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent
- Two years equivalent combination or related experience or education
- 18 years or older
Physical
- Body Positions Long periods of driving on and off the road. Long periods of time sitting or standing.
- Body Movements Ability to walk stand sit climb/balance stoop kneel or crawl on uneven ground reach with hands/arms lift and carry fifty 50 pounds use hands to finger handle or feel.
- Body Senses Ability to see clearly at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more) ability to observe an area that can be seen up and/or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point (peripheral vision) ability to judge distance and spatial relationships (depth perception) ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus (ability to adjust focus). Ability to obtain information by listening talking seeing.
- Mental Ability to read and communicate clearly. Ability to be aware of your position and the workers around you and to be aware of possible hazards approaching.
Working Conditions
Primarily outdoor activity during all seasons under wet/humid conditions.
Environment also includes frequent work around motor vehicles moving equipment vibrating equipment toxic or caustic chemicals fumes or airborne particles loud noises and working in high and hazardous places.
This is a safety sensitive position.
The basic function of a truck driver is to load and haul equipment and materials balancing and tying down loads to and from the various job sites in a safe manner. This is a safety sensitive position.
An employee performance evaluation will be conducted at least once each year. This position will be evaluated on each of the tasks listed above under Duties and Tasks.
