Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Database Administrator/DevOps position is essential in supporting the Colleges mission by collaborating with faculty staff students and instructors to implement technology solutions including database systems like Oracle PostgreSQL MySQL SQL Server and similar. This role involves consultative discussions with the College community to develop strategies advocate for best practices and promote the effective use of databases and DevOps tools (e.g. Ansible/ AWX GitLab). Additionally the position is responsible for creating documentation and materials for both internal and external users. Reporting to the Associate Director for Enterprise Solutions and Data Analytics the role encompasses several key functions: implementation maintenance (including routine maintenance and software patching) database backup and recovery system monitoring and customer service. The primary focus is to ensure the security and availability of the Colleges data and operational systems. The Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the database environment including software installation patching upgrades tuning and system monitoring. This role works closely with application developers business analysts and systems administrators to ensure database environments meet application and functional requirements adhering to teamdeveloped standards. Collaboration with infrastructure and operations teams ensures that system requirements network characteristics and storage needs support highperforming database and application environments. Working closely with the Colleges IT Director and other staff both within and outside of OASIS the Data Analyst provides expertise in creating supporting and maintaining solutions that align with the Colleges mission of teaching research and service.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in the following areas: Administration of Oracle databases specifically with Oracle 19c or higher. Administration of nonOracle databases (MySQL MS SQLServer and others). Patching database software (Oracle MySQL and others) using vendor supported and standard methodologies. Administration of Oracle APEX environments. Performing upgrades to database environments both in and out of place. Mastery of vendor supported backup/recovery techniques. Administration/support of Oracle RMAN infrastructure. Experience with DataGuard to support high availability patching and environment assurance. Experience with Oracle OEM /Cloud Control. Ability to work on multiple competing priorities and projects with minimal managerial oversight. Scripting skills using languages such as Unix/Linux Shell scripts Python Perl etc. Process and configuration management automation. Experience with Ansible AWX is a plus.
