Position Description

The GMS (Generation Management System) Engineer is a contract position reporting to the Head of Digital Technology will be responsible for designing implementing maintaining and troubleshooting Origis Energys GMS (Generation Management System) which monitors and controls multiple utilityscale renewable energy power plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design implementation and maintenance of all OSI Monarch related applications including OpenSCADA OpenCalc OpenHIS OpenICCP OpenOPC etc.
  • Work closely with other engineers to ensure the successful integration of plant SCADA systems into GMS environment.
  • Participate in onboarding of new projects into the GMS including pointtopoint testing with plant SCADA systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the GMS including user manuals maintenance guides and standard operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the GMS in a timely manner.
  • Train endusers and other engineers on the use and maintenance of OSI Monarch.
  • Support the implementation and deployment of security patches and software updates to the OSI Monarch platform.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing implementing and/or maintaining OSI Monarch systems within electrical power production environments.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Knowledge of various communication protocols including OPC DNP3 and Modbus.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems and their components such as sensors relays circuit breakers and controllers.
  • Strong understanding of ISO requirements including CAISO MISO
  • ERCOT PJM etc.
  • Knowledge of NERC and cyber security requirements for low and medium impact facilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Travel Up to 10 travel required as necessary
