Join us today.Responsibilities:Respond to referrals for assessmentTeach pupils the skills and subject matter commensurate with their intellectual physical and emotional needs as determined by assessment and utilizing State/Board adopted curriculumProvide an appropriate physical and psychological environment to establish and reinforce appropriate pupil behavior attitudes and social skillsAssess pupils to determine their functional and cognitive levelsDevelop and implement appropriate standardsbased IEP goals and objectivesMaintain a variety of pupil records including attendance report cards progress reports and transcriptsConfer frequently with professional staff parents and pupils relative to the educational process and pupil progressParticipate in professional development activities and implement strategies as appropriate to meet pupil needsTravel between school sites and accommodate flexible scheduling demandsMaintain confidential files and each students confidentialityAssist general and special education teachers to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing pupils in the classroomQualifications:Knowledge of behavior management systemsCurrent educational trends core and alternate core curriculum and strategies for implementation as related to programs for hearing impaired pupilsMandated tests (i.e. CAT6 CAPA CAHSEE CELDT)IEP process is desiredKnowledge of hearing aids and assistive listening devicesAssistive technology and alternative communication systemsInstructional strategies to enable hearing impaired and deaf pupilsUse good organizational skills and flexibility to establish appropriate schedules for students and selfEstablish and maintain a positive working relationship with staff parents and pupilsCommunicate competently in American Sign LanguageWork cooperatively with other disciplines for the success of the pupil
