Job Description
The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following course in Winter 2025: MATH 0600 (Provincial PreCalculus 1
Course description:Students develop math skills that prepare them for further studies in calculus. Topics include a review of advanced algebra an introduction to functions and a study of linear quadratic exponential and logarithmic functions. Together with MATH 0610: Provincial PreCalculus 2 this course fulfills the ABE Provincial Level (Grade 12 equivalency) requirements. Masters degree in a relevant field required
Requirements
Masters degree in a relevant field required
At least one degree in Math required
Teaching Certificate or Instructors Diploma or 5 years teaching experience required
Experience teaching students whose educational social and economic backgrounds are diverse and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses preferred
Skills in building intercultural understanding empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63 preferred
Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62 preferred
Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10 preferred
