The Senior Dietitian will perform all duties of Dietitian level but will demonstrate a higher level of expertise in the form of a specialization certification such as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition Eating Disorder Specialist Certified Specialist in Nutrition Support or other specialized certification. The Senior Dietitian will demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in their role will accept have additional responsibilities and will take on lead roles for certain programs or initiatives within the consortium. ************************************************************** $25K Sign On and $10K relocation for qualified hire! ************************************************************** Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job Perform all duties of Dietitian Provide advanced level of medical nutrition therapy in area of specialization Provide support in active management of SEARHC patients using problemsolving critical thinking and anticipatory skills in meeting the needs of the patient and the providers involved in care. Assume a leadership role in developing and implementing nutrition programs and initiatives. Provide mentoring and support to Dietitian and other team members. Conduct research and participate in evidencebased practice to improve patient care. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Engage in community outreach and education to promote healthy nutrition habits. Education Certifications and Licenses Required Master s degree from an accredited school with a dietetics program and completed dietetic internship program. Certification of specialization. Dietetic registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensure from the State of Alaska within six months of hire. Experience Required Completion of an approved dietetic internship program. Two years of clinical dietitian experience with demonstrated leadership skills. Experience managing clinical nutrition operations preferred. Experience in patient case management preferred. Knowledge of Medical nutrition therapy across the lifespan for a variety of chronic diseases Advanced clinical knowledge. Computer knowledge at a working level. Human behavior and techniques for effective behavior change. Government grants and alternative resources. Alaska Native populations and tribal health organizations. Skills in Clinical nutrition services: screening assessment diagnosis education intervention monitoring and evaluation using the Nutrition Care Process for patients at all levels of care and age. Education counseling and teaching. Program development evidencebased practice and project management. Basic computer software: Microsoft Word Publisher PowerPoint Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) or other electronic medical record charting software. Ability to Travel to remote locations. Travel is by jet small aircraft or ferry. Work with other staff members: the Hospital Nutrition staff as well as other healthcare professionals: physicians nurses Ward Clerks and other diabetes team members. Function independently on assigned patient care units. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients public hospital and medical staff and physicians. Effectively mentor other dietitians. Represent and advocate for nutrition services in the community. Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association Clinical Competency Assessment SEARHC Dietetic Technician Registered Commission on Dietetic Registration Registered Dietitian Alaska Division of Corporations Business and Professional Licensing
