User Researcher UX Research Agile GovTech Baseline Clearance
Location: Any major city in Australia (Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Canberra Perth Adelaide Hobart Darwin)
Security Requirement: Australian Citizen with active Baseline Security Clearance
We are seeking an experienced User Researcher to join a highimpact program in a government environment operating under the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). You will be part of a crossfunctional enabling team bringing the voice of the user to the forefront of design and development. Your research insights will help shape digital services that are intuitive accessible and effective for all Australians.
You will play a key role in informing backlog prioritisation refining features and guiding decisionmaking across agile teams. Active participation in ART (Agile Release Train) events PI Planning and Communities of Practice is an essential part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to identify research needs risks and priorities
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to understand behaviours goals and pain points
- Create and maintain user artefacts including personas journey maps empathy maps and insight reports
- Design and facilitate user interviews usability testing surveys and contextual inquiries
- Translate research findings into actionable insights that directly inform product and service design decisions
- Collaborate with Product Managers Designers and Delivery Teams to refine features and scope
- Advocate for inclusive and accessible design practices through evidencebased insights
- Engage in continuous improvement of research practices tools and methodologies
- Participate in design governance and share insights with the Design Reference Group and other forums
Essential Requirements
- 3 years experience in user research or UX roles within digital service delivery environments
- Proven experience conducting endtoend research using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Demonstrated ability to work in Agile / SAFe delivery environments
- Experience in the public sector or complex stakeholder environments is highly desirable
- High proficiency in tools such as Miro Figma Useberry Hotjar or similar
- Strong storytelling and communication skills to present findings to technical and nontechnical audiences
- Tertiary qualification in HumanCentred Design Psychology UX Design HumanComputer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline
- Australian Citizenship
- Baseline Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
