1. Demonstrated application of effective instruction meeting student needs relative to district benchmarks and standards.
2. Knowledge of best practice in teaching.
3. Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level.

5. Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards.
6. Knowledge of special education and section 504.
7. Knowledge of Federal Rights and Privacy Act and other civil rights regulations.
8. Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating organizing and evaluating.
Education:
1. Bachelors Degree in Education or Board of Educational Examiners approved alternative.
Certification/Licensure:
1. Appropriate BOEE licensure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Teach skills in music appreciation harmony and explorations in choral music (chorus choir choral ensemble) tohigh school students.
- Instruct students in music theory harmony score and sightreading composition music appreciation and provides individual or group vocal and instrumental lessons.
- Sing or play instruments to demonstrate musical scales tones and rhythm.
- Plan a balanced music program and organize daily classroom work based on teaching outline prepared for course of study to meet curriculum requirements and so that preparation rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Provide individual and smallgroup instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Evaluate each students musical growth and performance assessing each individuals contribution to the performance of the group.
- Use repertoire of all types of music literature including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students..
- Cooperate with the school administration in providing musical programs for school district and civic performances.
- Plan rehearse direct and coach students in their individual parts in fundamentals of musicianship and ensemble performance.
- Lead choral groups in regular and special performances for school programs community activities concerts and festivals.
- Establish and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly productive environment during practice group rehearsals and musical performances.
- Critique performance to identify errors and reinforce correct techniques.
- Supervise students in outofclassroom activities as assigned. Accompany students on field trips to musical performances.
- Select and requisition books musical instruments and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records. Order store and inventory musical instruments music and supplies.
- Communicate and meet with parents and school counselors on student progress and to resolve any student problems.
- Control the storage and use of schoolowned property; make minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Maintain professional competence through inservice education provided by the district and in selfselected professional growth activities related to music.
- Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria.
- Meets professional responsibilities as outlined in the Professional Growth Assessment Plan Employee Handbook and Board policy.
- Develops with supervisor a plan for professional growth.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement.
Ability to work while standing moving and/or walking.
Drug tobacco and alcoholfree while working.
Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work is perfroemd in an office or school setting.
Occasional meetings outside the school day.
Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
