Job Summary
Responsible for the daily preparation dispensing ordering quality control and sometimes delivery of radioactive pharmaceuticals.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities: 1.Procurement compounding quality assurance dispensing and distribution of Radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with all state and federal regulations. 2.Maintain all records as mandated by state and federal regulations for a radiopharmacy. 3.Provides after hours oncall coverage at least once a month for a seven day period for emergency Nuclear Medicine procedures. 4.Assures that all packaging and shipping of radioactive material are in compliance with all state and federal regulations. 5.Prepares and maintains records of research radiopharmaceuticals being evaluated at the University of Utah Medical Center. 6.Oversees radiation safety in the laboratory. 7.Supervises lab technicians and pharmacy interns in the performance of their duties. 8.Teaching and Training of Pharmacy Interns/Students Nuclear Medicine Technology students Medical Residents and Fellows on the subject of Nuclear Pharmacy. 9.Responsible for the supervision and teaching of Pharmacy Students and Nuclear Medicine Technology Students through the Nuclear Pharmacy Clerkship program. 10.Prepares lectures and training modules for the Nuclear Pharmacy class.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of one year experience as a licensed Nuclear Pharmacist or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) preferred. Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist BCNP is also preferred. Eligible to be licensed as a Nuclear Pharmacist in the State of Utah. Able to be a become an Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist by the University of Utah Radiation Safety Committee. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. An Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist is an individual who through appropriate training and experience is qualified and authorized to work independently with radiation sources and to supervise such use by others.
