We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our clients dynamic Operations department. In this role you will be responsible for preparing and assisting in the preparation and review of Fiduciary Income Tax Returns while managing the tax records for the trusts where our client serves as trustee. Reporting to the Tax Manager Senior Tax Manager Director or Senior Director of Tax you will play a key role in ensuring our clients receive exceptional service while managing risk.
As part of the Operations department you will be integral in ensuring the company meets its fiduciary responsibilities particularly in trust taxation and accounting. Your work will help ensure that client goals are achieved with minimal risk all while delivering toptier service. This position offers leadership opportunities including the training and development of staff and providing guidance on taxrelated matters across the organization.
- Review/prepare annual tax reporting forms required by various trusts including but not limited to Form 1041: Fiduciary Income Tax Return and related state income tax forms
- Review/prepare other tax forms as needed relating to distributions gifts estate and generation skipping taxes for the trust and its beneficiaries
- Review/prepare tax return extensions and estimated tax payments
- Address income tax preparation issues such as taxable income and expense allocations specific deductions and miscellaneous itemized deductions income distribution deduction calculation relation of principal and income law regarding distributable net income and the treatment of capital gains and losses
- Communicate and cultivate relationships with Trust Administrators Trust Accountants Legal Counsel and others to address issues relating to trusts and their respective beneficiaries
- Develop and maintain open and professional communication with clients and other thirdparty support service providers such as CPAs and Legal Counselors
- Research and prepare tax memorandums supporting material tax positions
- Support and contribute to the establishment of meaningful effective and efficient tax processes and procedures for filing complete accurate and timely tax return; Follow and adhere to Company established procedures steps and guidelines for preparing and reviewing returns
- Mentor and share tax knowledge with others both within the department and across teams
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
Must have a bachelors degree in accounting ortaxation
Must have advanced knowledge of MicrosoftExcel and Intermediate knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications
More than five years prior experience inaccounting three years prior experience in taxation
Public Accounting experience or 13 years as aStaff Accountant preferred
Experience with ProSystem FX preferred
Knowledge of directed trust tax issuespreferred
Must be detail oriented and have strong problemsolving and communication skills.
Excels at developing and maintaining goodworking relationships with colleagues and clients.
Demonstrates an excellent work ethic highstandards integrity and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
Works effectively with other team members anddepartments and functions well with independent responsibilities.
