What You Would Do in This Role
The Senior EIC Designer prepares complicated drawings and charts in a specialized field (piping CSA or EIC). The Senior EIC Designer also independently completes the design of different aspects of energy industry related projects from inception to completion. Duties include:
- Producing complicated drawings and charts in a specialized field involving planninglayout bill of materials etc. for major installations
- Designing and detailing new components from previous designs based onengineering instructions government and regulatory codes and client standards
- Developing designs of limited scope and complexity requiring theoretical and practicaldesign knowledge in a specialized field
- Assisting field forces during construction
- Checking the work of and assisting in the training of less experienced drafting anddesign personnel
- Reporting progress of work assignments to immediate supervisor
- Analyzing design elements for potential trends technical feasibility and client orcontractual requirements
- Ensuring all drawings and materials are in accordance with Vista specifications andstandards;
- Being able to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
- Produce oil facilityrelated drawing packages including SLDs area classificationdrawings electrical layouts JB wiring diagrams motor/VFD schematics cableschedules EHT isometrics etc.
- Perform demand load calculations voltage drop calculations lighting calculations EHT calculations cable tray fillcalculations etc.
- Participate in the requisition of electrical equipment such as switchgears MCC UPSEHT panels eHouses etc.
- Interpret information from vendor electrical drawings P&IDs LDTs isometrics etc.and visualize client requirements
- Performing other duties as requested
Requirements
- Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry
- Technical school certification / degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team including process mechanical civil structural & architectural electrical instrumentation & controls and piping
- Advanced computer skills and experience with major drafting and design software such as AutoCAD CADWorx SmartPlant AutoPLANT AVEVA and PDMS
- Extensive knowledge of applicable government regulations and regulatory codes
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multidiscipline environment
- Strong organizational skills technical competence and attention to detail
- Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
Preferred
- Ten years of experience in a designer capacity ideally with a focus on the energy industry
