You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailNelson Mullins is seeking a seasoned litigation paralegal in our Houston office to assist attorneys with commercial litigation complex business litigation and patent litigation matters.
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of litigation experience in a law firm including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegals role in the litigation life cycle. The position requires an individual who is proactive with case management and organization and has the knowledge and experience to move tasks forward with limited oversight.
Performing a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks this candidate will work directly with attorneys on complex commercial litigation patent litigation and other complex business disputes in a variety of industries. This individual will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system or local State Court sites under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; and prepare drafts of pleadings notices and motions. Trial experience is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate for this position possesses strong organizational skills welldeveloped critical thinking skills is very detailed oriented has a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs along with eDiscovery databases hasa strong sense of accountability takes ownership over projects and responsibilities resolves issues proactively and knows how to be a true team player. This individual is also a technology pro and has no problem learning new software.
2 or 4year degree and a paralegal certificate; however work experience may be substituted for education.
Ability to conduct research using various research tools including the Internet and Westlaw.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
