Occupational Therapist

SUMMARY:
The Occupational Therapist in the Clinical Program is responsible for direct client intervention assessments intervention plan development consultation therapeutic programming and caregiver training
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment
- Completes occupational therapy assessmentswith referred clients to identify strengths and needs;
- Utilizes standardized testing (if necessary) as a component of the assessment process
Direct Service and Treatment
- Provides direct occupational therapyservices as needed to assist clients in gaining skills for everyday lifeschool and relationships;
- Supports clients to identify and work toward realistic goals;
- Manages client caseload and prioritizes appropriately;
- Meets regularly with the clinical team for collaboration and planning;
- Assesses the need for therapeutic groups and implements accordingly;
- Assists the team in problemsolving to address client issues;
- Facilitates topicspecific training sessions as needed;
- Assists with service navigation and referral to community resources as needed.
Continuity of Care
- Engages caregivers and care team in the assessment and treatment process;
- Attendsstaff meetings and contributes to the overall functioning of the agency byassuming appropriate additional responsibilities as needed;
- Maintains appropriate clinical documentation and fulfills administrative duties;
- Shares relevant information with and provides consultation to collateral agencies such as Child and Family Service Agencies and schools;
- Works within the context of the interdisciplinary team to implement direct consultative or medicated models of service.
Professional Development
- Maintains professional development byattending workshops reading and clinical consultation on a regular basis;
- Meets the yearly licensing requirements of the College of Occupational Therapists in Manitoba;
- Performs all duties professionally ethically and with integrity;
- Familiarizes themselves with social policy issues trends and practices in the field as well as needs gaps or opportunities that may improve the lives of persons with youth/children or which promote social justice equality or accessibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIALREQUIREMENTS
- Baccalaureate or Clinical Masters Degree inOccupational Therapy;
- Registration is required with the College ofOccupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbents name entered inthe practicing register or the provisional register as an examinationcandidate. Where the incumbent isprovisionally registered as an examination candidate they must pass theexamination required by COTM during the next available exam offering to maintainemployment with The Link;
- Expertise in the area of child and adolescentmental health;
- Excellent communication and interpersonalskills;
- Ability to work as a team member andcooperatively with other disciplines;
- Ability to practice independently and completetasks with minimal supervision;
- Knowledge and understanding of evidencebased practice;
- Current certification in either DLE (ThePurposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions) orwillingness to obtain the same;
- Current Firstaid/CPR certification;
- ASISTCertificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and Deescalation training or willingness to obtain the same;
- Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check withVulnerable Sector Search a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptablePrior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check.
**Valid drivers license and use of personal vehicle is a requirementfor this position**
**Position may require some evenings/weekends to meet needs of children/youth
PREFERRED
- Experience working with children/adolescentsand their families;
- Knowledge of the child welfare system inManitoba;
- Knowledge of Indigenous customs beliefs andpractices.

SALARYRANGE: $34.00 to $35.00 hourly depending on qualification. Includes vacation paid sick leave benefit plan and pension plan
HOURSOF WORK: 35 hours per week.
