You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailMinimum qualifications include a MD eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Hematological Pathology or an Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology with Hematopathology fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology. A proven track record of collegiality and collaborative practice is required. The ability to multitask and work in a fastpaced hospital laboratory environment is necessary. Physicians must also have current Canadian Medical Protective Association (or equivalent) coverage.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in Edmonton Alberta is seeking a qualified full time Hematopathologist. Additional experience /interest in Flow Cytometry oversight and/or Transfusion Medicine would be an asset but is not essential. The successful applicant may also be considered for appointment with the University of Albertas Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
This position may consist of involvement and interaction with different APL laboratory sites within the city of Edmonton and Northern Alberta. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with its team of 96 pathologists and many consultants functions as a Center of Excellence. The APL North Sector is a diverse clinical research and teaching department within the University of Alberta. We offer a full range of clinical services including two level I trauma centers solid organ transplantation high risk obstetrics Level 13 neonatal intensive care hematologyoncology and cardiovascular surgery services.
The successful candidate will provide medical reporting consultation for hematopathology issues on clinical services and work closely with clinicians in hematology oncology transplantation neurology obstetrics critical care cardiothoracic and trauma surgery. Clinical duties will also include offering medical oversight to technical and regulatory processes and procedures including quality assurance hemovigilance and occurrence management. Part of the role includes education for colleagues allied health professionals and trainees in postgraduate as well as undergraduate training programs.
