1About the position:
The Materials & Corrosion Lead is part of the Materials Equipment and Quality team within Chevrons ENGINE Center and is responsible for providing technical leadership and supervision to a team of engineers to deliver materials corrosion coating and welding engineering consulting services to Chevron operating companies affiliates & capital projects worldwide. This role works collaboratively with the Chevron Technical Center (CTC) to provide technical support to the Enterprise and requires strong and demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in all aspects of materials & corrosion discipline.
Key responsibilities:
Provide technical oversight supervision work prioritization and direction to direct reports.
Coach and mentor direct reports to grow capabilities in all aspects of materials & corrosion discipline.
Manage all aspects of direct reports performance and career development including performance reviews career development planning succession planning etc.
Responsible for timely delivery and quality of work products services and solutions delivered by the team.
Work collaboratively with BUs technical leads at CTC and within the ENGINE to develop and deploy innovative materials corrosion coatings and welding solutions.
Develop and deliver the teams business plan and support delivery of ENGINE MEQ Chapter business plan.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy Corrosion Materials Engineering or related engineering discipline from a recognized (AICTE) university.
7 years technical supervisory experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
Skilled competency level in both upstream and downstream metallurgy and corrosion.
Skilled competency level in welding coatings cathodic protection and nonmetallics
Fundamental knowledge of relevant technical codes and standards (NACE MR0175 API 571 ASME B31.3 B31.4 B31.8 ASME BPV Sec VIII ASME Sec IX ASME PCC2
Fundamental competency level in fixed equipment integrity management (piping equipment pipelines heat exchangers tanks).
Preferred Qualifications:
15 years corrosion and materials engineering experience with at least 10 years in the oil and gas industry.
Masters degree in Corrosion Metallurgy or Materials Engineering
Handson field experience at upstream and downstream operating facilities
NACE Specialist certification in materials selection corrosion control cathodic protection or pipeline integrity management.
Experience managing research and development projects in materials corrosion coating and welding area
Professional Engineering registration
Experience with data analytics and digital tools
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
