JOB SUMMARY:
Promotes environmental protection by maintaining healthy and safe medical facilities for employees and visitors.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum two years inhouse experience and 120 hours of hard surface experience and 60 hours carpet care experience. No current CAFs.
LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION:
Completion of the competency for the Emergency Department. Certifications in EVS Customer Service Care operating room cleaning and in all floor care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas including dusting and sanitizing furniture equipment mirrors and fixtures; washing windows walls ceilings vents and light fixtures; sweeping scrubbing and refinishing floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpet; restocking restrooms; replacing light bulbs; and reporting repairs.
2. Heavy contact with cleaning chemicals disinfecting agents floor strippers and finishes. Majority of work is indoors but may assist with outdoor cleaning including parking lot windows and roof. Various cleaning activities may include the use of a ladder.
3. Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen emptying trash containers changing sharps containers transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors recycling material and emptying cigarette receptacles in smoking areas.
4. Keeps equipment associated with the job clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
5. Assures daily patient areas clinics offices and labs are cleaned with proper use of chemicals for cleaning and disinfecting. Documents cleaning actions noting areas requiring additional monitoring or care. Informs Supervisor of incomplete work and communicates between shifts. Meets Departmental Quality Standards.
6. Attends training as scheduled. Complies with procedures rules and regulations relating to the use of chemicals and supplies. Remains current on technical updates reading labels and on the mixing and dilution of chemicals.
7. Inspects and releases cleaned rooms to Admissions. Stocks and distributes cleaning supplies. Completes project work as assigned. Conducts routine followup custodial training.
