Job Description

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing implementing and enforcing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other relevant safety regulations. This role is critical in maintaining a safe work environment by conducting inspections training employees and identifying potential hazards in a fastpaced manufacturing setting.

Your daily work may include but is not limited to:

  • Compliance & Safety Programs

    • Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA federal state and local safety regulations.

    • Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures.

    • Maintain and update the facilitys Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

    • Conduct regular safety audits inspections and risk assessments.

  • Training & Employee Engagement

    • Develop and lead safety training programs including new hire orientation hazard communication PPE use emergency response and equipment safety.

    • Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to reinforce best practices.

    • Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees and management in proactive safety initiatives.

  • Incident Investigation & Reporting

    • Investigate workplace accidents nearmisses and injuries to determine root causes.

    • Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.

    • Maintain accurate safety records reports and logs in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Hazard Identification & Risk Management

    • Identify potential workplace hazards and implement corrective measures.

    • Recommend and oversee the implementation of ergonomic and safety improvements.

    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment.

    • Emergency Preparedness

    • Develop and update emergency response plans and procedures.

    • Coordinate fire drills evacuation plans and firstaid training.

    • Serve as the point of contact for safetyrelated emergencies.

Professional qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Science or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 25 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Certifications: OSHA 30Hour Certification required.

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Cal/OSHA regulations hazard communication (HazCom) and industrial safety best practices.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Personal skills

  • Excellent communication training and leadership skills; ability to conduct risk assessments and investigations

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

  • Comfortable speaking to members at all levels of the organization

  • Good planning skills and ability to effectively multi task

  • Track record of successfully implementing safety improvements in your organization

  • Able to see the bigger picture and know that the journey never ends

  • Experience leading without having formal leadership responsibility

  • Highly spirited and able to successfully motivate stakeholders

  • Good planning skills and ability to effectively multitask

  • Able to develop and communicate a solid strategy

  • Change management comes naturally

  • Have a can do attitude and be able to do what it takes to succeed

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $70000 to $80000 annually. Please note that the pay range provided is a goodfaith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors including but not limited to the individuals qualifications experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
