Job description
Title: Young 5s Teacher (FullTime)
Reports to: Principal
Job Goal: The classroom teacher is responsible for teaching our Young 5s students (ages 45 for the duration of the school year. The teacher will help plan and implement a curriculum that will develop the whole child: spiritually physically emotionally cognitively and creatively. Young 5s staff must be alert and able to watch over children and provide loving guidance and direction. The Young 5s teacher is responsible for providing a safelearning environment that fosters academic excellence and spiritual growth in the Catholic faith; mind body and soul.
About our school: Our school has small class sizes with an average of 15 students in our early childhood programs which is every teachers dream! In our Young 5s classroom we have a ratio of 12:1 so the teacher usually has an aide with them at all times. The parent support in our community is amazing and is one of our staffs favorite things! The students are wonderful and love helping others and providing service to our community.

Performance Responsibilities:
Recognizes and supports the unique Catholic Mission of the school by speaking acting and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Demonstrate effective planning skills by preparing lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives and by incorporating school and diocesan curriculum objectives in lesson plans.
Demonstrate current thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and be able to communicate effectively with students; be able to organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks as well as motivate student learning.
Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes selfdirection and positive selfimage; set high standards for student behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively.
Work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents.
At all times demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing school policies and regulations.
Maintain confidentiality of information display sound judgment in dress and general behavior.
Complete 16 hours of training annually (provided by school)
Promote a healthy and safe atmosphere by offering healthy food choices cleaning and sanitizing toys and the classroom
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have strong commitment to Catholic education and model behavior aligned with St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academys mission and values.
Excellent communications skills including written verbal public speaking and presentation skills
Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be wellorganized; must be a team player
Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Must complete and pass a criminal history and background check
CPR and first aid certified or willing to be certified within 6 months of being hired
Has taken or will take Protecting Gods Children Workshop
Education and Experience:
An Associates degree or higher in early childhood education from an accredited college/university (preferred) or be partially through early childhood education program.
