The incumbent serves as the College of Veterinary Medicines Human Resources Director with responsibility to plan direct and manage the human resources administrative functions for all employee groups including faculty and academic staff support staff and student employees. The incumbent provides highlevel human resources leadership and expertise to senior leadership managers supervisors employees and other stakeholders to answer questions transfer knowledge and resolve complex and sensitive matters including conflict resolution; manages and oversees secured electronic employee records the faculty onboarding tool and other college data systems. Serves as the MAU HR leader and liaison between the offices of MSU Human Resources Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance and other university units; participates in strategic planning directs and plans human resources initiatives and implements HR best practices and system changes. This position reports to and works closely with the Dean on highly confidential and complex human resources matters (both faculty and staff including disciplinary and reappointment matters) and works to ensure that all human resources administrative functions are consistent and performed in a timely and efficient manner.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a fouryear college degree program in a human resources area or a related degree; 3 to 5 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human resources supervision accounting management budget preparation and data base system analysis and maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Masters degree in human resources management or administration; experience directly in administration of human resources activities in a diverse environment academic human resources and including conflict resolution and negotiation responsibilities; extensive experience in supervision of professional staff; demonstrated ability to organize demanding workload with minimal supervision; demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills; problemsolving ability under pressure; business acumen; unquestionable ethical orientation and discretion.
