Purpose
At CEEW we envision adecarbonised electricity sector in India that provides reliable and affordableelectricity services to all. To pursue this vision we undertake interventions thatcan lead to robust grid planning flexible supplyside operationsfinancially sound and efficient power distribution companies and responsivedemand from consumers. We generate evidence for change devise and testsolutions provide implementation support to stakeholders and evaluate theimpact of initiatives on the ground.
To advance its powersector engagement in Rajasthan CEEW seeks to hire a suitable candidate with a strongunderstanding of the distribution sector grid planning and operations and handsonexperience in stakeholder engagement (including discoms electricity regulatorsstate governments power procurement entities and state load dispatch centres).The candidate will be expected to support the teams research efforts focusedon increasing the share of renewables in the grid optimising power procurementcosts improving billing and collection efficiency and embracing newtechnologies (smart meters and energyefficiency). She/he will work closelywith the state energy department discoms system operator regulator and otherkey stakeholders towards turning research into action.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities
Coconceptualise and implement researchinterventions to test strategies that hold potential to improve financialhealth and operational efficiency of discoms
Identify renewable energy deployment integration andofftake issues and opportunities from the states perspective to coconceptualiseand execute research that can aid policy regulatory and market related changes
Assistin understanding new power market designs support mechanisms and regulatoryinterventions demonstrated in emerging and developing countries for enablinghigh RE shares in the power system
Conduct various types of analyses using advanced data analyticstools to further the research and programme objectives
Develop trustbased relationships with keystakeholders especially with discoms regulators system operators powerprocurement entity and other research organisations to understand thechallenges and opportunities in the state power sector transition deepen theimpact footprint collect necessary datasets for robust research anddisseminate findings and recommendations to gather regular feedback on theresearch
Share knowledge and findings on various internal and external platformsbased on the research and implementation efforts through presentations memos short reports opinion pieces videos etc. with supportfrom CEEWs Outreach team
Write highquality research reports and publish in leading peerreviewed journals
Track key power sector policy developments at the state nationaland international level
