Job Description
Overview
Scouts citrus field / nursery searching for signs of pest problems including but not limited to insects diseases weeds and nematodes.
Heres what youll do:
- Walks a min of 5 miles a day in fields checking for insects diseases weeds and other issues.
- Walks citrus nursery checking for insects diseases weeds and other issues.
- Completes monthly chemical inventory count sheet.
- Must be able to identify insects with and without magnifying lens.
- Collects soil and tissue samples for lab analysis.
- Performs other technical tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Using current technology completes daily scout reports on cell phone or computer.
- Must understand and follow Supervisors directions and meet standards set for each of the jobs that may be assigned.
- Performs all tasks in a safe manner. Required to wear all safety gear assigned and asks for instructions when unfamiliar or lacking knowledge of proper safety procedures.
Qualifications :
Heres what youll bring to the table:
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Excellent planning and scheduling abilities
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and write English
- Citrus experience preferred
- Experience with electronic devices for data entry and management
