St. Matthew Catholic SchoolMaintenance Technician Reports to: Principal FLSA: Hourly NonExempt Full time: 40 hours per week General Summary: The Maintenance Technician will be assigned to provide oversight of the general upkeep building maintenance and custodial duties for all buildings or projects of St. Matthew Catholic School to ensure facilities are always safe clean and functional. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for inspecting and performing regular maintenance on HVAC systems paint touchups and spotcleaning facility grounds as well as general repairs such as door hardware replacement or repair. Additionally this role is responsible for routine maintenance and emergency repairs to prevent and resolve safety or comfort issues. The Maintenance Technician also performs cleaning facility setup moving of equipment and miscellaneous simple grounds and beautification for the school. Cleaning duties include vacuuming and mopping floors cleaning bathrooms washing windows and trash removal. This position requires knowledge and experience working with industrialstrength cleaning chemicals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide facilities maintenance including (but not limited to) building mechanical electrical plumbing and stormwater.
- Confer with contractors vendors and staff to resolve maintenance problems.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Principal.
- Coordinate regular preventative maintenance programs.
- Regularly monitor all areas of the buildings and grounds and evaluate operational risks complete maintenance checklists and follow all safety rules and regulations. Bring safety concerns to the attention of the Principal in a timely manner.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting all work completed by outside vendors.
- Address plumbing issues such as leaks clogs or other drainage problems; change out faucets and other minor plumbing issues.
- Inspect and perform regular maintenance on HVAC systems including regularly changing filters.
- Address electrical issues within skill level or seek permission from the Principal to contract an outside vendor.
- Complete basic carpentry repairs around the building.
- Install new equipment and oversee building upgrades as assigned by the Principal.
- Perform cleaning duties including vacuuming and mopping floors cleaning bathrooms washing windows and trash removal.
- Perform facility setup and moving of equipment as needed for school events.
- Conduct general grounds beautification and maintenance.
- Ensure proper handling and usage of industrialstrength cleaning chemicals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: - Minimum of 13 years of related experience in maintenance property or facilities operations vendor or contractor management.
- Experience with general repairs building maintenance carpentry painting HVAC electrical and plumbing.
- Ability to provide support through consultation and oversight to staff on maintenance and repair projects.
- Great attention to detail and workmanship to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or visitors to the building in a pleasant manner and be ever cognizant of the security and safety of others especially in active work zones and projects.
- The ability to respect promote accommodate and not conflict with the mission moral and social teachings doctrines and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.

COMMUNICATION AND COMPUTER SKILLS - Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of leadership vendors employees and the general public.
- Must have average computer skills including aptitude with Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate ratio and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
