Opportunities to Contribute
Conducts semicomplex independent research in their field of expertise.
Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills from education and experience to complete research projects.
Oversees preparation cleaning and organization of the worksite ensuring necessary supplies are available.
Analyzes research data and summarizes results.
Writes and contributes to research papers articles and publications.
Acquires grants for research funding.
Assists student researchers Postdoctoral Research Associates Assistant Research Scientists and graduate students.
Prepares presentation materials for small and large groups.
Participates in the preparation of technical progress reports for research sponsors.
Qualifications
PhD in a Geosciences or related field.
Experience in Planetary Science Data Science Remote Sensing GIS.
Three years of related experience.
A wellqualified candidate will also possess
Experience with statistics large datasets and GitHub repositories.
Experience with geological feature mapping and remote sensing.
Excellent verbal written and presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
Proficiency in spatial analysis machinelearning methods and planetary image datasets (optical and radar).
Proficiency in writing and understanding Python code and working with commandline interfaces.
Proficiency with ArcGIS or similar software and image processing software (ENVI ERDAS or similar).
Interest in computer vision machine learning and Planetary Aeolian Processes.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hires education and experience.
Schedule: The selected candidate may have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours and travel as required.
Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts as well as satisfactory job performance.
