Faculty Position Vacancy Founded in 1852 Wartburg College is a selective fouryear liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church (ELCA) nationally recognized for community engagement. The college offers more than 50 academic majors and preprofessional and certificate programs leading to the bachelors degree. - Relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: Spanish for the professions; Spanish for health professions; Hispanic linguistics; sociolinguistics; Spanish for heritage speakers; U.S. Latinx studies; Spanish in the U.S.; bilingualism; translation/interpretation; phonetics/pronunciation; communitybased servicelearning; study abroad; K12 licensure in ESL and/or Spanish; online teaching
- Nearnative verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
- Evidence of teaching excellence; promise of continued scholarly activity; and willingness to support the mission of the College
Preferred: Demonstrated ability to teach another language at the elementary and intermediate levels preferred. Successful candidates must be willing to support the Colleges mission and contribute to the strategic plan. DUTIES: The successful candidate will fulfill the duties of tenure track faculty to include: - Teach three 14week undergraduate courses in each term fall and winter term including elementary intermediate and advanced language/culture courses. Teach one 4week May term course including travel courses on a rotation
- Advise student majors in Spanish
- Develop new courses in area of specialization and for the new THRIVE General Education plan
- Engage in scholarship and service appropriate to the liberal arts setting
