Job Description

Position Title: Retail Market Manager Date: January 19 2024

Reports To: Cape Abilities Farm Director FLSA Classification: NonExempt

GENERAL SUMMARY

The retail market manager is an efficient motivated and organized individual who works collaboratively as part of the farms leadership team.The retail market manager oversees all aspects of the markets operations including ordering merchandising staff supervision and customer service. The retail market manager works with the farm director and inventory specialist in the maintenance of Squares point of sale. The market manager models high quality service keeping customer satisfaction & market presentation as the top priority.

The ideal candidate will be businessoriented with strong experience in retail operations have a knowledge of produce as well as demonstrated success working in a diverse team. The retail market manager will work with customers and internal stakeholders to build and maintain a roadmap that is designed to deliver a superior shopping experience increase sales and delivery systems (eCommerce) and operational efficiency.

The retail market manager additionally works closely with the farm manager head grower produce membership & community coordinator and the facilities manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Oversees the weekly purchasing of food products for the farm market in addition to an eclectic inventory of items representing the arts clothing personal care & pet products.
  • In coordination with the Inventory Specialist maintains all purchasing records and vendor database within Squares point of sale.
  • Work with the head grower to ensure all available farm grown product is represented in the farm market and maximizes crossmerchandising opportunities.
  • Ensure all products are priced competitively and accurately in the market.
  • Update signage and point of purchase marketing as needed.
  • Works with Farm Market Associates to minimize shrinkage of perishable items.
  • In coordination with the Produce Membership & Community Coordinator collaborates on:
  • the purchasing of produce for membership and community service events.
  • promotions enrollment and member relations.
  • Continuously generates leads of new products and vendors with an emphasis on developing partnerships with local entrepreneurs.
  • Assists with scheduling to ensure proper coverage and maximum employment of individuals served.
  • Creates daily farm market task lists for individuals served.
  • Oversees nightly deposits daily sales receipts product invoices and monthly delivery of receiving documents to headquarters.
  • As part of the leadership team plans and executes promotional events such as open houses promotional offerings and educational familyfriendly events.
  • Collaborates with local food pantries to coordinate donations as able.
  • Works closely with marketing and communications to promote farm products in social media.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with customers community contacts vendors and other key partners.
  • Works collaboratively in a matrixed program and consistently demonstrate excellent stakeholder management at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintains an encouraging and positive work environment for adults with disabilities.
  • Attends all staff meetings trainings and development activities as required.
  • Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
