Work Schedule: MidAugust through midJune 35 hours per week; The standard 40hour work schedule is Monday Friday 8:00 am 5:00 pm; flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisor; occasional evening or weekend hours especially during New Student Orientation and final exam weeks; travel up to 5 of work schedule which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 1 trip per year.
Salary Range: $38000 $44000.
Essential Job Duties:
- Accessibility Services.
- Demonstrate and continually develop and a thorough understanding of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 ADA and ADAAA and St. Olaf Colleges responsibilities for equal access.
- Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities: review requests for academic and campus life accommodations; assess documentation to determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations.
- Keep accurate and uptodate records in alignment with FERPA and confidentiality policy.
- Develop students understanding of their legal rights and responsibilities promoting growth of selfadvocacy skills independence and development.
- Meet with prospective students through individual meetings or open house presentations.
- Serve as a resource for faculty as they work to meet the students academic accommodations; assist with any concerns of approved accommodations posing a fundamental alteration to their course design; and serve as a liaison and mediator between students and faculty.
- Communicate approved campus life accommodations to campus life partners for implementation and address any accommodation concerns.
- Refer students to Success Coaches and other resources for ongoing case management.
- Collaboration with campus partners on a broad range of initiatives.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with faculty and administrative personnel across campus to advocate for students with disabilities.
- Serve on relevant campuswide committees as an advocate for students with disabilities and as a representative of Disability and Access.
- Promote disability awareness and opportunities for students staff and faculty by way of trainings and outreach in universal design for learning to increase accessibility.
- General Office Responsibilities/Professional Development.
- Regularly update the Director of Disability and Access on concerns.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
- Support respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Reports to the Director of Disability Access and Technology Support.
- This position does not supervise staff or students.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree.
- Experience: 2 years of relevant professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Masters Degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: 3 years of relevant professional experience; experience in providing accommodations to students with disabilities and collaborating with faculty; implementing computing support in assistive technology and collaborating with faculty to support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessible instructional design.
