Middle School Nurse (starting August 2025
Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to students for injuries acute illness and chronic health conditions
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policy
- Identify community health concerns in accordance with established school health protocols
- Establish and maintain an accurate clinic inventory including storage and tracking process for all medication and supplies handled within the Clinical Services Department
- Maintain complete accurate and timely student records
- Communicate effectively with clinical team school administration parents/guardians and health care providers
- Review medical reports and interpret them for appropriate administrative action consulting with the Director of Clinical Services as necessary
- Conduct health screenings (e.g. vision hearing scoliosis) and complete staterequired reports annually
- Provide training for staff on healthrelated topics including medication administration seizure response and epipen use
- Participate in gradelevel experiential overnight school trips each year
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Active Registered Nurse license issued by the Texas State Board of Nursing
- Minimum three years of nursing experience school nursing and pediatric experience preferred.
- Current certification in First Aid CPR and AED Usage
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure
- Knowledge of childhood illnesses immunization requirements and health screening
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary school team
- Proficiency in documenting care and using electronic health records or schoolbased health systems
