Summary
The CEI Inspector is responsible for the monitoring daily activities of asphalt concrete and earthwork for conformance of client/contractor work on various projects to ensure materials meet specifications. Position will perform engineering inspections activities such as construction observation and field sampling of asphalt concrete and earthwork for construction application. The inspector will record daily notes for the engineering staff.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for familiarity with the Departments Procedures covering the project related duties as stated above and proficient in the computer programs necessary to perform those duties.
  • Responsible for receiving general supervision from and assisting the Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • EIT with a degree in engineering engineering technology and construction management desired. (EIT must obtain therequired qualifications and certifications within one year)
  • Two years of experience in construction inspection with a minimum of one year ofbridge and/or roadway construction experience desired.
  • Must have the following as required by the scope of work for the intended assignment on the project at the time of NTP:
    • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
    • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I
    • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
    • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
    • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
    • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures lighting structures and traffic signal structure foundations
    • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
    • FDOT Intermediate MOT
    • Nuclear Radiation Safety
    • Florida Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.
Physical Demands
The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking standing bending and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures.
Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects and proficiency in recognizing sound tone and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions including hot cold and noisy settings and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
