Job Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Mobile Unit Director will provide supervision of all mobile unit assigned staff and coordinate all activities of the mobile unit. This position will develop processes for the mobile unit including but not limited to vaccine control supply and medication stock cleanliness of the unit scheduling and maintenance. The Mobile Unit Director will assign staff to the mobile unit and will coordinate with each Nurse Manager to garner additional staff when the unit is in the county they support. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of providing excellent customer service and leadership.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Daily supervision of mobile unit staff and evaluation of staff per SMS/DPH guidelines.
  • Manage mobile unit budget and develop contingency plans for short falls or expense increases.
  • Ensure that staff are properly trained to enter programmatic and any other needed information into required reporting systems. Ensure that Quality Assurance guidelines are met and that staff are properly educated to carry out job functions.
  • Ensure staff participate in periodic training to maintain required job skills and that education forms are completed and sent to personnel and the District Nursing Director (DND).
  • Ensure the maintenance and safeguard of the supply and pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Perform calibration and QA monitoring of lab analyzes and equipment. Ensure updated and accurate documentation of QA activities.
  • Ensure that the mobile unit operates within federal and state guidelines and within the appropriate chain of command.
  • Develop an emergency plan for the mobile unit and ensure that required drills are held annually and emergency equipment checked monthly.
  • Make longrange plans for utilization of the mobile unit and regularly review activities problems and functions of services being delivered.
  • Attend Boards of Health (BOH) meetings when requested.
  • Provide information to County Nurse Manager and/or DND for the BOH concerning activities and programs.
  • Will report directly to the DND and function as a County Nurse Manager for the mobile unit.
  • Participate in meetings with the District Health Director (DHD) DND and Public Health Program staff when requested.
  • Follow and adhere to procurement procedures established by the state.
  • Submit required reports on time containing accurate information.
  • Provide Direct Patient Care Per Nursing Protocol Provide preventive care follow up and maintenance to clients per protocol. Consult medical provider as needed. Complete and maintain accurate detailed reports and documentation in client record per guidelines.
  • Collaborate with county district and programmatic staff to provide prevention programs and education to the community through community outreach offer health screens and educational sessions.
  • Participate with community organizations in promoting public health issues (e.g. flu clinics health fairs outreach meetings and other health department activities) as assigned by supervisor.

RN: Plans organizes and directs all nursing activities in assigned facility. Responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in hospitals public health facilities and communitybased programs. Directs subordinate managers and staff. Provides clinical services under nurse protocols including complete physicals treatments and counseling. Responsible for understanding and supervising the business office including billing checkin/out and other business office duties.

APRN:Plans organizes and directs all nursing activities in assigned facility. Responsible for the quality of nursing care delivered in hospitals public health facilities and community based programs. Directs subordinate managers and staff. Under supervision of a senior APRN performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas. Operates under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician conducts complete physicals provides treatment and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases. Responsible for understanding and supervising the business office including billing checkin/out and other business office duties.



Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

RN: Masters degree in nursing nursing administration public health or directly related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Five years of experience as a Registered Nurse Three years of which in an administrative or supervisory capacity AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse OR Eight years of experience as a Registered Nurse Two years of which in an environment related to the area of assignment Six years of which as a supervisor AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.

APRN: Doctorate or masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Public health experience with knowledge of practice management functions (patient registration scheduling billing coding etc. ERN training (RNs) including hypertension and diabetes is preferred. Proven administrative or leadership role especially within public health.

APRNs experience with LARC placement including IUDs and implants.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
