Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) works to improve the lives of persons in their communities through a variety of programs and services.
Communitybased supports programs that supervise persons with developmental disabilities ensuring high quality physical behavioural and emotional supports.
These programs include 3 individuals. 2 males who are pretty independent and a female with some challenging behaviors therefore applicants with previous behavior intervention experience will be best suited to this position. Suitable candidate will look after some supportiveIndependent Living Programs.
Taproot Community Support Services operates several communitybased supports programs in Fort McMurray to support people with developmental disabilities in becoming active empowered and involved in their community regardless of the challenges they face developmental disabilities acquired brain injury FASD autism and dual diagnosis.
The Team Leader is responsible for oversight of program operations in this CARFaccredited agency. Ensures dayto day services to persons served comply with contacts Taproot policies and procedures and applicable standards and legislation. Works directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required and liaises with funders community partners and other agencies.
Scheduling:
This is for one 1 permanent fulltime position with a weekly schedule of 40 hours per week:
Monday through Friday; may be required to work outside these hours to cover shifts in an emergency.
Participation in afterhours emergency oncall is mandatory.
Work a combination of front line supports with client(s) and program administration/management every week.
Supervise and mentor Disability Support Worker staff
Manage the daily operation of the program(s) including facilities equipment and staffing
Ensure comprehensive/accurate recording and reporting of information (e.g. daily logs incidents reports)
Approve time sheets and related payroll documents
Develop/monitor Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
Assist Program Director with staff performance reviews/improvement plans and coordination of case conferences
Be available for on call rotation

Diploma in Disabilities Studies Degree in related Social Work Social Services Special Education Psychology Sociology etc.
2 years management/supervisor experience
5 years experience providing residential service to persons with developmental disabilities and complex needs; Disability Support Worker or Practitioner Healthcare Aide or LPN
Knowledge of developmental disabilities; augmented by specialized training
Experience writing and implementing program plans and goals an asset
Valid class 5 driver license clear driving abstract and vehicle
First Aid/CPR Certificate
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Medication Administration Abuse Protocol Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies Foundations and Disabilities Training
Leadership and crisis management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work with multiple persons served as well as with staffing teams
