POSITION: Special Education Teacher ASPIRE Licensure Program
GRADE LEVEL: Hiring for both middle school and high school positions

SALARY: $60000$78000 based on years of aligned experience up to 10 years. We also offer a relocation stipend for anyone joining us from 75 miles or more from Denver! Please note that the salary scale for the 202526 school year has increased to $. On 7/1/25 you will automatically receive a raise to match this scale if you continue with us to the 202526 school year
SCHOLARSHIP: This year DSST has a set number of scholarships to support aspiring special education teachers. In exchange for a two year commitment working at DSST we will pay for your full tuition to CU Denvers ASPIRE to Teach Program. This one year program allows you to work full time with us as a Special Education Teacher while completing the licensure program at CU. For more detailed information about ASPIRE see this FAQ. Interested candidates would complete a brief application and interview with the scholarship committee and scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Our Mild/Moderate Special Education Teachers are leaders who play an integral role in ensuring that students with disabilities are welcomed known and challenged to achieve their most ambitious postsecondary path. Plan and deliver culturally responsive instruction in cotaught pushin and/or pullout settings
Serve as case manager to a portfolio of students with disabilities; completing tasks such as writing data driven IEPs developing goals monitoring progress delivering targeted academic & behavioral interventions and celebrating success with each students team of teachers and family along the way
Partner with general education teachers to appropriately implement accommodations and modifications with intentionality and consistency
Advocate for and champion all diverse learners in the school by participating on the MTSS (MultiTiered Systems of Support) Team
Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment running a small group advisory class after school tutoring etc.*

Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color students with disabilities and/or multilingual students
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree
An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in high school reach their most ambitious postsecondary goals and lead exemplary lives
Desire to personally professionally grow in their practice of becoming an antiracist educator
Selfawareness a regular practice of reflection and a desire to continuously improve

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and may require standing walking bending kneeling stooping and crouching throughout the day. The employee must lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds. The employee must have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
