Job Summary:

Candidate will be responsible for a variety of portfolio management and trading initiatives for the Canada Power Trading Group. Specifically the position will be responsible for assisting in the management of Canada retail portfolios; the pricing analysis and trading of Alberta and Ontario positions; assisting sales and pricing teams with modeling and market information and pricing and modelling of structure deals with Origination.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage retail sales portfolios with hedging strategies.
  • Manage the pricing analysis and trading related to the Alberta and Ontario power markets and positions.
  • Work with pricing to develop and maintain retail pricing models.
  • Work with MidOffice to verify daily P&L and position movement.
  • Help grow the Canadian trading business in general
  • Work with other members of the desk to share market knowledge and views in an effort to look for opportunities and/or develop new strategies.
  • Trade short term cash markets to help optimize portfolios.
  • Work with the desk and Origination to price and manage structured deals brought in by Origination
  • Develop maintain and update various reports as needed by the group and desk to provide detailed information and analysis to assist the desk and other groups.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Overtime required as business needs dictate

Minimum Requirements:

  • Advanced quantitative degree preferably in Mathematics Engineering or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience trading financial and physical power markets preferably Ontario and Alberta.
  • Proficient coder of SQL and an objectoriented programming language (Ruby Python VBA).
  • Strong analytical skills with strong IT and/or data management skills.
  • Statistical proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency using the coding language R.

  • Team player with ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
