Job Description

GRANDE PRAIRIE is located about 450 kilometers northwest of Edmonton and about the same distance north of Jasper National Park offering the best of both worlds big city amenities without losing the comfort of a small safe community and close proximity to outstanding wilderness areas. The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is a 250 bed acute care facility with a busy emergency department ICU NICU and specialty services in OB/Gyn orthopedic surgery general surgery ophthalmology ENT urology palliative care pediatrics and psychiatry; hosting over 10000 discharges approximately 60000 emergency department visits over 1700 deliveries and more than 15000 surgical procedures annually. The new hospital also includes radiation therapy services further increasing the capacity to provide services to the people of Northwestern Alberta and Northeastern British Columbia.

Qualifications:

Must have current hospitalist experience in a rural and regional setting

  • CCFP Certification (desired)

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and/or Queen Elizabeth II Ambulatory Care Centre is seeking a Physician to support a variety of hospital Ambulatory Care programs.

Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Virtual Tour

The ambulatory care physician will have Alberta Health Services hospital privileges. This position is fulltime with support of facility based ambulatory care programs.

Duties include but not limited to:
Reside in and have as his/her primary residence Grande Prairie
Full time participation and/or support of ambulatory care programs which may include but not limited to;
Management of outpatient I.V. therapy patients including reassessments
Minor O.R. procedures such as skin biopsies mole removal excision of lumps & bumps
IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease) patient follow up including nutritional counselling
Rectal Bleed Clinic reassess patients including hemorrhoid banding
Wound Care Clinic reassess patients and working within the multidisciplinary wound care team including procedures
PreAdmission Clinic working in conjunction with anesthesiologists
Musculoskeletal Clinic management of patients with nonoperative MSK complaints
Provide support to other ambulatory care patients or programs as required
Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities
Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned.
