Duties And Responsibilities
We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds succeed. This includes but is not limited to: Leading a seminar course of approximately 1518 students. Attending CLS faculty meetings once per week usually on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays around noon to discuss the texts and teaching pedagogy and classroom concerns as they arise. Working with student mentors and their corresponding program when applicable such as with the Sophomore Surge mentoring program or having a CLS peer mentor regularly attending and helping cofacilitate class. This may include some supervisory duties regularly meeting outside of class allowing mentors time to make brief announcements within the class and the assigning of a grade depending on the role of this mentor. Holding regular and as needed office hours. Occasionally meeting with students outside of the normally scheduled class. Participating in program and university assessment. This may include submitting requested assignments to be assessed and may also include setting time aside to assess assignments.
