Days (United States of America)PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medicationrelated care of patients with a wide range of conditions eligible for board certification eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2 pharmacy residency training. PGY2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice with opportunities to function independently as practitioners. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care academic or other specialized positions along with board certification if available.

Required Minimum Education: Graduate Degree (Masters):
Specialty/Major: Pharmacy
Licensure/Certification Required: Must be licensed and in good standing in the state which the residency takes place within 90 days of their residency start date as outlined in the residency handbook or contract.
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Must maintain competencies as required by the hospital or pharmacy department
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: Must have graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. Requires high level of communications skills ability to identify complex problems requiring the application of scientific or clinical principles theories and concepts plus indepth knowledge. Must be able to define problems collect data establish facts and draw conclusions. Must be able to prioritize
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred: Computer skills with Windows Microsoft Office Suite the Internet/Intranet performing literature searches. Ability to meet physical demands of job.
