Primary Purpose of Position:
The Museum of Natural Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Exhibit Designer who is responsible for leading exhibit designers through the development design production installation and evaluation of exhibitions. They are a handson leader who will participate in and oversee each projects design and production coordinating closely between developers fellow designers digital media specialists and fabricators to execute the project strategy goals and design direction. They possess a combination of exhibition knowledge graphic production skills leadership experience design savvy and creativity.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Exhibit and environmental design for new and traveling exhibitions.
Project planning scheduling and conceptual design development for new exhibition projects.
Present and articulate design concepts and intent to internal and external stakeholders.
Graphic design for exhibits educational graphics digital media signage and wayfinding.
Largeformat graphic printing production and installation.
Supervise the work and creative output form the Exhibit Designer Exhibit Graphic Designer and interns.
Oversee design direction and strategy in coordination with Head of Exhibits and Director of Exhibits.

Section/Unit Description:
The Exhibits and Digital Mediasection communicates important scientific stories to a diverse group of visitors. These stories bridge the gap between researchers and members of the public and in doing so help to inspire wider conservation of our natural world. The section is charged to develop design produce install and maintain all interpretive media for permanent temporary and traveling exhibits both within the Nature Exploration Center (NEC) and Nature Research Center (NRC). In addition the section regularly supports our museum sections including education special events living collections fundraising and research as well as supporting our satellite facilities.

The States Museum devoted to science and nature the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in central Raleigh is the largest institution of its kind in the Southeastern United States and with over a million visitors a year the states most visited museum. Its 300000 square feet downtown campus is augmented by Prairie Ridge Ecostation and satellite facilities in Whiteville Greenville and Contentnea Creek. Together they provide a variety of curriculumfocused classes onsite offsite outdoors and online for prekindergarten through graduate students across the state.Agency Description:

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach aDD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
