Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Pipeline and Terminal facilities in Chippewa Falls WI. We are looking for an Instrument & Electrical Technician to work closely with the Pipeline and Terminal Managers to optimize the movement of finished petroleum products from the refinery to the terminal customers. You must be a selfmotivated resultsdriven individual with the ability to assess situations quickly to make decisions. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with high mechanical and mathematical aptitudes strong troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to work in both a team environment and on selfdirected tasks are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable equipment and systems to support pipeline and terminal operations in Chippewa Falls WI McFarland WI and Grand Forks ND (or as assigned).
  • Install configure maintain and troubleshoot high and low voltage electrical systems instrumentation equipment and SCADA/Terminal Automation control systems.
  • Ensure efficient 24/7 operation of loading rack and/or pipeline facilities by maintaining equipment additive systems and assist with training of truck drivers on loading procedures and policies.
  • Provide 24/7 operational support and provide troubleshooting and general support to terminals and pipeline facilities.
  • Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting the cathodic protection systems.
  • Assess operating problems with consideration of hazards including high voltage high pressure piping rotating equipment chemicals and flammable materials.
  • Interact with landowners third party contractors public officials and emergency responders to educate about pipeline safety.
  • Direct and oversee third party work as needed.
  • Oversee the construction installation and startup of capital projects.
  • Assist with developing project scope of work and ensure projects are completed as specified and within budget.
  • Coordinate operational and maintenance items for terminal and pipeline operations.
  • Provide assistance to the area integrity management program.
  • Participate in Safety Committee reviews meetings discussions and solution development.
  • Participate in safety reviews training and emergency.
  • Provide indirect supervision of operators maintenance gang members and other pipeline technicians; and directly supervise contractors as needed.
  • Keep current on company EHS standards pipeline and terminal operating procedures and industry practices.
  • Utilize a wide range of electrical monitoring equipment computers calibration devices and testing equipment.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including respirators.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees vendors and customers and follow all safety policies procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of vocational military apprenticeship or journeyman Instrument and Electrical technical training (additional years of experience may offset education requirement)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Instrument and Electrical experience
  • Experience with electrical monitoring equipment computers calibration devices and testing equipment
  • Working knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems process controls pumps and hydraulics
  • Live within 30 miles of Chippewa Falls Terminal or be willing to relocate permanent residence

Additional Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of Instrument and Electrical experience
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician
  • Petroleum experience
  • Experience with cathodic protection SCADA and/or terminal automation systems
  • NACE training
  • ISA training
  • HAZWOPER Certification
