Department of Computer Science
PartTime Lecturer Pool
POSITION
The Department of Computer Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its PartTime Lecturer Pool.
We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about teaching and student centered to teach in the following subject areas:
- Web or Mobile Application Programming
- Cybersecurity
- Cloud Computing
- High Performance Computing
- Computer Graphics
- Computer Networks
- Machine Intelligence
- Bioinformatics
- Programming Languages and Compilers
- Algorithms
- Operating Systems
- Software Engineering
This is a pool of parttime lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified will be contacted when positions are available.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PARTTIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MS degree in computer science or closely related field or BS degree in computer science or closely related field with at least 2 years industry experience in computer science field and demonstrable experience in the appropriate field.
- Ideal candidates will be able to document their excellent academic preparation in computer science or closely related field along with current experience in industry
- Proficiency in online teaching strategies
- Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population including firstgeneration college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
- Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities

The department of Computer Science is the largest department in ECS and offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science a Master of Science in Computer Science and an online Master of Science in Software Engineering. APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for parttime faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions parttime faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All parttime faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5007 $6359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $5925 per month
The fulltime 15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a threeunit assignment typical starting compensation ranges from $6008.40 to $7110 per semester.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of parttime lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances syllabi assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
