You will be specializing through a thorough knowledge of bridge load rating and analysis techniques in accordance with various DOT specifications and AASHTO requirements. You will also be performing field inspections of bridges and ancillary structures as needed and are interested. Most importantly you will be providing technical expertise on bridge maintenance to internal and external customers.
What Youll Do:
Create and update load rating analyses of various bridge structures and complexities to incorporate inspection findings deterioration and damage. Primaret modeling through AASHTOware BrR and creating unique analysis calculations as needed.
Serves as primary contact on load rating tasks for projects identifies scheduling and staff resource requirements and assigns tasks to self and other staff members.
Responsible for assessing capabilities of other engineers in completing various complexities of load ratings coaches and trains engineers to perform load ratings and conducts quality control / PE reviews prior to release to clients.
Ability to perform federally mandated inspections on state bridges and culverts as needed to ensure the safety of the traveling public assign condition and appraisal ratings and determine structural soundness and maintenance needs. 90 office time with 10 field time for inspections.
What Youll Need:
Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an accredited U.S. institution.
Professional Engineer License (or able to obtain).
4 years of experience in load rating or related structural analysis (AASHTOware BrR experience preferred).
FHWANHI130092 Fundamentals of LRFR & Applications of LRFR for Bridge Superstructures required or experience allows ability to obtain in reasonable timeframe.
Experience with computer applications such as AutoCAD MicroStation and/or Civil 3D.
Ability to plan schedule work and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines.
Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to visit a Clients office field or construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
Field inspection work may require regular statewide overnight travel; heavy physical exertion and effort; and exposure to physical hazards health and safety risks and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
