Responsibilities of the Project Accountant: EDC Consulting is actively searching for a Project Accountant to enhance our Accounting Departments efficiency in handling daytoday financial operations and administrative tasks. Reporting directly to the Controller this role is pivotal in managing billing accounts payable reporting and project administration across our extensive contract catalog. The successful candidate will be a central figure within our accounting team collaborating closely with company leadership program managers and clients to achieve financial objectives for projects that vary in type size complexity and risk.
The Project Accountant:
Utilize Deltek Costpoint for creating contracts managing projects and maintaining charge codes throughout the project lifecycle.
Generate and submit accurate monthly client invoices ensuring compliance with award requirements and timeliness.
Follow up on overdue invoices and secure client approvals.
Monitor project expenditures alerting management to potential budget variances.
Regularly track costs and manpower ensuring alignment with budget forecasts and correct job number allocations.
Maintain rigorous documentation of contract details ensuring alignment with established processes.
Prepare and manage financial aspects of subcontractor and vendor agreements ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with internal policies.
Directly communicate with clients regarding invoicing receivables and project reporting. Ensure customer financial deliverables are accurate and meet contractual requirements.
Prepare and support Internal Program Review (IPR) presentations and financial Contract Data Requirements (CDRL) submissions.
Conduct various adhoc financial analyses to provide insights into project performance and financial health.
Handle contract closeouts and proactive maintenance of contract documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
35 years of progressive experience in billing and accounting operations particularly with government contracts.
Candidates with highly specialized knowledge or unique applicable experience may have adjustments made to these criteria.
A minimum of 2 years of experience with Deltek Costpoint is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for maintaining highquality interactions internally and with external stakeholders.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in the companys office located in Tysons Corner VA and/or also work from home as directed. EDCs primary collaboration and communication tool is Microsoft Teams Microsoft SharePoint and the entire suite of Microsoft Office 365 products. Flexibility in telework arrangements and responding to the needs of the companys leadership the team lead and/or the work group will be necessary. EDC employees participate in daily scrum meetings.
