Company Overview

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the worlds transition to clean energy with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve peoples quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoridesaltcooled hightemperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety affordable costs and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Lead Engineer of Quality Innovation the Research Reactor Quality Assurance Engineer aids the organization in quality innovation for the Kairos Power fluoride saltcooled hightemperature reactor (KPFHR). The Research Reactor Quality Assurance Engineer supports implementation and of Kairos Powers ANS 15.8 quality assurance (QA) program including requirements for design testing component manufacturing and construction. The Quality Innovation Engineer develops QA strategies QA training modules and performs assessment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Kairos teams responsible for development and implementation of Kairos Powers ANS 15.8 QA program including design control test control records management training internal assessments and supplier evaluation
  • Assist in QA program development and implementation through direct contributions and through coaching/training other responsible members of the Kairos team
  • Provide crossfunctional guidanceacross multiple teams to enable innovative approaches to meeting quality requirements during the design procurement build and operational phases of reactor projects
  • Capture lessons learned from the technology development designbuildtest cycles by writing Operating Experience narratives coaching/mentoring others to prepare narratives and participating in cause analysis
  • Develop technology insights through handson experience in hardware build and test operations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with data analysis/automation (or ability to develop further experience in) R RMarkdown Python git LaTeX Bash/Shell/Batch scripting Docker VS Code GitHub etc.
  • Experience with ANS 15.8 research and test reactor QA program implementation and strongly preferred
  • Preferred experience working with high temperature salt systems or other hazardous processes and implementing appropriate safety and process controls
  • Preferred experience in hardware research and development
  • Preferred experience in a hardware production environment for established technologies
  • Preferred experience with commercial grade acceptance processes (nuclear commercial grade dedication commercial offtheshelf procurement and MILSPEC or similar)
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of one self and others
  • Ability to proactively collect manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems challenges and issues
