Job Description

Sport Health and Wellbeing Specialist
At the UKLC and Wycombe Abbey Summer Programme we provide residential and homestay English language and activity programmes for international students aged 1117 years. Our aims are simple: to Educate Inspire and Enrich future generations. We are passionate about providing lifechanging experiences for young international learners.
As a Sport Health and Wellbeing Specialist you will lead the planning and delivery of a fun active and safe programme. You will create an engaging environment that fosters teamwork skillbuilding and enjoyment for students of all abilities and ages.

Reporting to: Excursion and Activity Manager
Opportunity for Progression: Excursion and Activity Manager.
PreSummer Preparation
  • Attend the presummer online training.
  • Attend the company inductions and assist with the centre set up as required.
Summer Delivery
  • Deliver an engaging sport health & wellbeing programme ensuring that the students are involved and enthusiastic.
  • Prepare and deliver the programme with the support of the Excursion and Activity Manager and Course Director.
  • Maintain and be responsible for all activity equipment materials and registers.
  • Ensure that all equipment and materials are in place for the start of an activity and returned at the end.
  • Maintain the good name and reputation of UKLC and Wycombe Abbey at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings.
Teamwork and Communication
  • Participate in daily team meetings to align on schedules and share feedback.
  • Feedback regularly to the Excursion and Activity Manager.
  • Read understand and sign off to all risk assessments for the programme.
  • Act as a point of contact for students addressing any questions or concerns about the programme.
  • Work with the team to maintain team and student discipline.
Feedback and Administration
  • Deal quickly and effectively with student queries regarding the programme.
  • Help to maintain activity noticeboards and other communication tools.
  • Maintain accident and damage records.
  • Complete an endofcontract feedback report to support future programme improvements.

Working Hours
You will deliver eight sessions of Leadership & Sustainability per term 2 weeks) for a total of 18 hours per fortnight. Each session will run from 2pm until 4.15pm and will include one 15minute unpaid breaks. Teaching may take place at weekends.
Salary and Benefits
  • All salaries are paid monthly in arrears.
  • Holiday pay added to final pay packet.

Experience
Experience in Personal Training and nutrition for all ages
o Working with young people in summer schools or similar settings.
Qualifications
National Governing Body Sports qualifications and/or PGCE in Physical Education.
Certification or Degree in Personal Training and Nutrition or similar.
o At least twoyear professional experience in the field.
o Lifeguard qualification.
o Relevant First Aid qualification.
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of the needs of different age ranges when it comes to workouts and nutrition.
o Familiarity with sports (football climbing swimming golf)

Sample Rota: Sport Health & Wellbeing Specialist
As a Sport Health and Wellbeing specialist you will work eight sessions per fortnight. A session is defined as approximately two hours in the afternoon.
Find below a Session Plan overview (this is a draft and should be adapted based on your strengths and the skills of the group).
There will be a final showcase during an afternoon activity session where they will present a workout circuit and a nutrition plan they will have worked on during the programme.
You will also need to attend inperson company and role specific induction prior to starting your contract. Specific dates and times will be set closer to the time. Induction is paid at a fixed rate and will start a few days before the official centre opening dates.

Introduction & first circuit

Class Fitness Suite Sports Hall

a Start with a a15 minute introduction to the programme you and the students (get to know you games it can be in a class setting or in the Sports Hall)

a 30 minute introduction to nutrition and wellbeing (how food impacts energy and results fueling your body the importance of stretch and rest)a 15 minute tour of the various spaces they will utilise during the programme (class lockers fitness suite pool climbing room and Sports Hall)a 15 minute break (to go to the fitness suite or for students to get changed if needed)a 45 minute brief introduction to equipment and machines in the fitness suite and presentation/explanation of the various exercises they will do in the circuit. Start and complete the circuit (on the first day I would suggest doing a test with no weights to then adapt the rest of the programme it can be done in the fitrness suite or in the Sports Hall and it should comprise of different stations they will do on rotation also depending on the number of students)a 15 minute cool down and stretchDAY 2Wellbeing through Nutrition and Mindfulness SwimmingStudio with screen Pool (if the capacity is not enough you might want to split the students into groups and they alternate the activities)a Start with 15 minutes of talking about nutrition and how having a balanced and correct nutrition (personalised and dependant on age and fitness goals) is fundamental to being healthy. a 30 minutes of physical work through warm up and cool down exercises while explaining the importance of doing them.a 15 minutes of guided mindfulness and yoga (if comfortable) explaining the benefit of practicea 15 minute break (students can get changed into their swimsuits)a 50 minutes in the pool with exercises tests and challenges (depending on level and proficiency). If students cannot swim plan B needs to be thought througha 10 minute cool down and making sure the students have time to properly get changed and shower
