Job Description

Primary Purpose
Under the direction of the instructor of record to provide instruction in reading mathematics social studies and science to build skills and to prepare to take General Educational Development Test GED . Parttime (substitute) instructors direct student discussion and evaluate student performance in the classroom.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide instruction in area of discipline using instructorprovided materials. This includes lecturing and guiding in classroom activities providing individual conference time to guide and evaluate student progress. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening classes taught on or off campus. Maintain and complete student attendance. If applicable the instructor supervises volunteer tutors in the classroom. Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to each location as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Education English Math or a related field Two years experience in teaching or substituting

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Adult Basic Education or related field Training or coursework in teaching foundational skills Experience working with adults who have deficient basic skills disabilities low income or cultural barriers
