Education Services Child Care Partnership Specialist

Purpose of the Job:

The core function of this contractfunded position is to conduct outreach to child care providers who receive subsidies for serving lowincome families in Travis County and counties surrounding Travis. The Child Care Partnership Specialist will be facilitating the uses of PBS digital media and other resources that contribute to the quality of the child care experience. In regular visits the Specialist will model practices facilitate effective practices and interact with both staff and the childrens families. Resources will remain at the child care centers with the goal of their regular incorporation into the centers activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gain facility with and knowledge of PBS KIDS digital media and accompanying resources geared toward preschool learning school readiness and overall wellbeing
• Gain facility with and knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care especially in the uses of media and of the Texas Rising Star rating system
• Maintain a roster of at least 20 child care providers 10 from Travis County (Workforce Solutions of the Capital Area) and 10 from counties surrounding Travis (Workforce Solutions of the Rural Capital Area)
• Provide own transportation to partner sites within the Greater Austin area (mileage reimbursed)
• Distribute digital and handson materials to the providers for their use during the contract year and beyond; regularly handle and transport equipment 20 lbs. or less
• Facilitate onsite uses of PBS digital media and devices through an approach that includes modeling then shifts to a facilitator/coach role; regular evaluate partners against a rubric designed by Austin PBS
• Conduct monthly visits for firstyear partners (ideally inperson but virtual if inperson is not viable) for coaching consulting and building connections between the child care providers and Austin PBS.
• Conduct bimonthly visits for secondyear partners (ideally inperson but virtual if inperson is not viable) for coaching consulting and building connections between the child care providers and Austin PBS
• Work with providers to determine site/classroomspecific resource needs then fulfill those needs using funds allocated for each site
• Track data relevant to outreach efforts including: reactions from child care providers youth and families; numbers of devices and resources distributed; numbers of outreach activities conducted with providers/sites/families
• Maintain financial records of purchases that will assist in invoicing WFSCA and WFSRCA
• Participate in all relevant Austin PBS Educational Services meetings
• Present information and resources consistent with the PBS and Austin PBS mission to parents of young children.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in early childcare and instruction
• Oral and literate fluency in Spanish and English
• Childhood Development Associate credential or higher credential preferred
• Strong relational skills
• Tech proficiency to use and maintain digital devices primarily tablets and laptop computers
• Creative energy to forge new alliances and directions
• Pass criminal background check including fingerprint scan

This is a full time temporary position paying $35/hour.

Position would run through September of 2025.
