Description

The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the Occupational Therapy Program Lecturer position within the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions. This position will be responsible for program compliance/oversight of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program baccalaureate project and assist in the curriculum design strategic planning teaching and student advising for a new occupational therapy assistant program per the Accreditation Council of Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) Standards.

Essential Job Duties

Essential duties will include oversight of the occupational therapy assistant programs baccalaureate projects including helping select projects finding content experts ensuring alignment with the programs curriculum design reflection on the mission and philosophy of the program and contributing to the advanced knowledge of the profession as well as maintaining a means of formal evaluation of these student performances during and at the completion of the project. Additionally the program instructor will be responsible for teaching occupational therapy courses in the program. Additional responsibilities will include course development; advising program students; maintaining office hours; serving on committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participating in appropriate professional development activities; ; participating in service to the university and the community; and instructing and assisting in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials effective teaching methods and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree or bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an ACOTE accredited program USDErecognized institution is required;
  • Masters degree in a related field that is accredited by a USDErecognized institution is required with an education focus preferred;
  • Two years of clinical experience in the field of occupational therapy is required;
  • Teaching experience is preferred;
  • Practicing occupational therapy assistant (OTA) certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required;
  • Currently certified and licensed in the state of Alabama or be eligible for licensure;
  • Understanding of scholarship and project design is preferred;
  • National and state organization membership is preferred.

Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of Issued to Student or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
