THE OPPORTUNITY: MECHATRONICS TECHNICIAN
Metal additive manufacturing technology powered by 3D printing is evolving quickly from a niche tool used primarily in university research to an industry tool used to develop and manufacture products faster and at a lower cost. Xact Metal headquartered in State College PA makes metal additive manufacturing systems affordable for small to midsized companies needing prototyping casting tooling and printing small parts but could not previously afford metal powderbed fusion systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechatronics Technician
The Mechatronics Technician guarantees and maintains the availability of production quality and building equipment constantly improving its performance.
Overall responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assembly of systems including mechanical electrical and software subsystems. Experience with electrooptics is a plus.
- Detailing & documenting assembly procedures.
- Effective coordination and of the assigned tasks and work orders.
- Ensure compliance of quality systems with all required standards including customerspecific requirements and the quality effectiveness and cleanliness of ones own area of responsibility.
- Developing indepth knowledge of products for assembly testing and troubleshooting.
- Customer installation service may include traveling 15 to the customer location.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to:
- regularly perform repetitive tasks
- sit or stand for long periods and routinelyrequired to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch or crawl
- regularly lift/maneuver/move objects weighing up to 20pounds and occasionally lift/maneuver/move objects weighing up to 50pounds
- specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception the ability to tell differences between colors and compare to color standards and the ability to adjust focus
- regularly possess manual/finger/hand dexterity to handle manipulate control feel and adjust objects to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately; sufficient hand strength is required to be able to operate a soldering iron and other hand tools effectively
- regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand; regularly understand the speech of another person.
MINIMUM JOB ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
A.A.S. degree from an accredited program in mechatronics or a related field such as automated manufacturing technology electrical technology electromechanical maintenance technology engineering CAD technology engineering design technology electronics and computer engineering electronics and computer engineering technology robotics and automation technology or a comparable program of study in industrial computing and engineering technologies; alternatively at least 4years mechatronicsspecific work experience will be considered instead of the A.A.S. degree.
OTHER MUSTHAVE JOB ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read accurately comprehend/interpret and follow instructions blueprints schematics and test plans furnished in written digital/electronic diagram or schedule form
- Solid math and reasoning skills to prepare compile and validate data/reports
- Ability to interpret data evaluate metrics and apply appropriate problemanalysis or problemsolving techniques to assess a technical production issue accurately.
- Comfort level with technology software and spreadsheets including use of all Microsoft Office products and smartphones and the willingness to learn new systems techniques and technologies
- If required by job duties background checks (criminal/education/ employment/ reference/ credit/ DMV) may be performed; results must be satisfactory to the company.
- A valid drivers license a registered and insured vehicle and the ability to travel/drive /15 to and from customer sites for installation and service visits are required. Occasionally overnight travel and the ability to travel by standard carrier air and/or train are also required.
- If hired adhere to all OSHA/safety standards and protocols company policies and procedures and other prescribed best practices/industry standards.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES (These are a plus not required!
- Passion for 3D printing.
- Work experience in Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing.
- Handson experience in mechatronics machine/system design.
- Technical knowledge and skills in the following: Electrical electronic mechanical and electrooptics systems.
- Teamwork capable of setting priorities and transparent in communication.
