As a Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) you will play a vital role in developing Xayns privacyfirst Legal AI solution helping professionals in the law research and advising domain. Youll build scalable highperformance backend services while working closely with AI researchers and engineers to implement cuttingedge features and optimize system performance.
YOUR TEAM
The Tech team consists of around 10 individuals who work remotely or at the office in Berlin city center. Besides the development team Xayns technical lead and an external consultant team handle various tasks related to providing Xayns development team with the necessary technical environment ensuring the smooth operation and scalability of Xayns AI applications.

Your responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable backend servicesusing Rust focusing on the core APIs that handle the heavy lifting for Xayns Noxtua platform
- Design develop and deploy secure and robust APIswith a focus on scalability stability and security for customerfacing services
- Manage Service and Tenant APIsusing Python including tenant creation administration and rights management for efficient customer operations
- Integrate AI libraries primarily in Python implementing features close to LLMs (Large Language Models) and supporting AIrelated API development
- Optimize algorithms and system performanceto ensure speed scalability and overall system reliability across the platform
- Contribute to platform developmentwith a focus on security and stability while designing and deploying new APIs for AIdriven features
- Collaborate with AI Engineers DevOps and Frontend Developersto implement solutions effectively and ensure seamless integration across teams

About you
- Working Permission:Germany
- Language:English (fluent)
- Strong proficiency in Rust and Python with at least 2 years of Rust experience including API development (e.g. with Tokio) and applying OpenAPI standards
- Expertise in backend development including database integration PostgreSQL Docker containerization and security practices like OAuth and secure coding
- Solid understanding of system architecture with experience in microservices scalable deployments using Kubernetes and network architecture fundamentals
- Strong problemsolving and algorithmic skills with a clean code approach and a focus on performance optimization
- Testdriven development mindset with proven experience in extending Python projects ensuring typesafe coding practices and efficient collaboration within crossfunctional teams

The AI startup Xayn develops Noxtua Europes first sovereign Legal AI. Noxtua helps lawyers analyze and draft legal documents and research legal questions while being legally competent and compliant. Hosted in the EU Noxtua meets high standards of confidentiality in handling client data professional secrecy (e.g. Section 203 German Criminal Code Section 43e German Federal Code for Lawyers) and European data protection. Noxtua is powered by specialized proprietary AI models.
